The Master Cleanse

This cleansing program is also know as the "Lemonade" diet or cleanse. (It is so tasty my kids love the lemonade.) However, for maximum effectiveness for detoxing your body, it requires you to not eat during the process. It is best if you can stay on it for a minimum of 10 days but can still be effective for even one day.


Whether its a dual action colon cleanse or an intestinal detox like this, getting rid of the toxins in your body is important and this is a small piece of free insurance for that.

However, if you don't want to fast and "not eating" is not an option for you, check out some of the other options such as our best colon product for cleansing or Himalayan Sea Salt Cleansing. These are much easier than fasting for 10 days.

Purpose:
  • To dissolve, clean and eliminate toxins and congestion that have formed in any part of the body including your colon.
  • To clean the kidneys and the digestive system.
  • To purify the glands and cells throughout the entire body.
  • To eliminate all unusable waste and hardened material in the joints and muscles.
  • To relieve pressure and irritation in the nerves, arteries, and blood vessels.
  • To build a healthy blood stream.
  • To keep youth and elasticity regardless of our years.
  • To purify mind, thoughts and to get in touch with your spirit.

When to Use It?

  • When sickness has developed—for all acute and chronic conditions.
  • When the digestive system needs a rest and a cleansing.
  • When overweight has become a problem.
  • When better assimilation and building of body tissue is needed.
  • When you need to make an important decision.
  • When you need to have clear mind and clear thoughts.
  • When you feel like fasting.
How Often?
Follow the diet for a minimum of 10 days or more—up to 40 days and beyond may be safely followed for extremely serious cases. The diet has all the nutrition needed during this time. Three to four times a year will do wonders for keeping the body in a normal healthy conditions. The diet may be undertaken more frequently for serious conditions.



How to Make It?
Ingredients:
  • 2 Tablespoons lemon or lime juice (approx. ½ lemon)
  • 2 Tablespoons genuine maple syrup Grade B or C (Not maple flavored sugar syrup)
  • 1/10 Teaspoon Cayenne (red pepper) or to taste (see my comments below on cayenne.)
  • Water (medium hot)
Directions:Combine the juice, maple syrup, and cayenne pepper in a 10 ounce glass and fill with medium hot water. (Cold water may be used if preferred.)

Use fresh (organic) lemons or limes only, never canned lemon or lime juice nor frozen lemonade or frozen juice.

You must also do something for your bowel movements. Fasting on liquids will, in most people, promote stagnation of feces in the large intestine. (you will lose the need to move bowel.)

Salt Water Flush

  • 1 quart (1 Liter) Water - boil to tea drinking temperature
  • 2 Level TEASPOONS natural, unrefined Sea Salt(no additives. Fine or powder sea salt work best, you can use it for food prep also)
  • Juice from a Lime/Lemon - if required to offset the taste
  • 16oz (1/2 Liter) Serving Cup
  • Alarm Clock - set to sunrise

Salt from a natural source like Celtic sea salt is better for cleansing your body than refined and iodized salt. Natural unrefined Sea salt (without harmful additives) is the best choice. This is a traditional Ayurveda intestinal and body detox.

Prior to Cleanse
If you have problems with constipation, please clean your bowels with a safe herbal laxative like Smooth Move Tea (i.e. senna or garcinia) or with an home colonic or enema for one or three days before this cleanse. Make sure your bowels are moving!


My story: I have experienced the master cleanse several times. My longest was 12 days and my shortest was 1 day. On the twelve day cleanse I really only felt bad on day one. After that I did feel hungry (unlike it says in Stanley Burroughs' book) but I did not feel like I was starving. If I felt hungry I would just keep sipping my “Lemonade”. I would make 10 glasses worth in a gallon jug at the beginning of the day and use it throughout.

I did have a lot of energy while on the cleanse and was about one pound lighter for every day on the program. I only regained about 2 pounds when I resumed my normal diet.

Since I do not have a constipation problem, I did do the first salt water flush. as directed. After the first flush I did it every other day at half strength. You have to decide what is right for you. It is very important that you get the toxins out of your body by flushing out your colon throughout your fast.

Personally, there was no way I was going to add cayenne to the drink. I would not have lasted one drink worth. So I bought capsules and took the capsules throughout the day for a total of 4-6 capsules each day. One day I took two capsules at once and got very nauseous..too much, too fast. Take it slow and easy.






Cleansing Response
If you are getting headaches or any other types of symptoms such as moodiness, flu like symptoms, this is your body’s way of releasing also know as a cleansing response.

Drink more water and if necessary use natural herbal remedies to help you through. It is also useful to take a detox bath at least twice a week while cleansing and practice dry brushing your skin.
