Master Cleanse Recipe

The Easy Way to a Healthy, Happy Body

The master cleanse recipe is from The Master Cleanser by Stanley Burroughs.

Its a short but powerful book packed with great info that is summarized here. The Master Cleanse is a time-tested cleanse that is also known as The Lemonade Diet or The Lemonade Fast.

I think of the master cleanse as my insurance for good health. Yes, it is named a fast since you do not intake any food during the process.

Although there are many products out there, one of the best overall cleanses is the Master Cleanse, unless you have candida.

It is easy, fairly inexpensive, works great and most of the ingredients you can find in your local store, although I find it easier to get a Master Cleanse Kit.

Master Cleanse Recipe:

  • 2 Tablespoons lemon (approx. ½ lemon). You can use lime juice instead. Use fresh (organic) lemons or limes only. Do not use canned or bottled lemon or lime juice or frozen canned lemonade or any type of frozen juice.
  • 2 Tablespoons maple syrup Grade B or C (You do not want to use maple flavored syrup since that is usually corn syrup)
  • Water - Burroughs suggests medium hot but I usually just use room temperature purified water.
  • 1/10 Teaspoon cayenne or red pepper to taste (if you don’t like cayenne, see below)

You can combine the lemon or lime juice, maple syrup, and cayenne pepper in a 10-ounce container and fill with water. Feel free to use cold water if that's what you prefer. Sip it slowly until it is gone, then pour yourself another glass. You can repeat this throughout the day.

If time is an issue for you, you can make a larger batch of the Master Cleanse Recipe at one time (I do this). A gallon container will fit 10 glasses of the drink. Only one drawback: if you make it early, the lemon juice may lose some of its enzyme properties.

Gallon Recipe:

  • 1 & 1/4 cups Fresh Lemon Juice
  • 1 & 1/4 cups Grade B Maple Syrup
  • 12 & 1/2 cups Purified Water
  • 1 teaspoon Cayenne

How Often?

Follow the Cleanse Recipe for a minimum of 10 days or more—up to 40 days and beyond may be safely followed for extremely serious cases.

The diet has all the nutrition needed during this time. Three to four times a year will do wonders for keeping the body in a normal healthy condition. The cleanse can be undertaken more frequently for serious conditions.

I don't like Cayenne!

I could not do this cleanse if I had to take in the cayenne pepper with the drink, so I found a better way to do it. Instead of putting the cayenne in the drink, I take it in capsule form: one capsule, 2-3 times per day. Once,  I took all of them at one time and it was not a pretty sight, so be sure to space the capsules out throughout the day. Cayenne really helps to cleanse your lymphatic system.

I want to get the most benefit of the Master Cleanse

There are a few things to do to get the most out of the cleanse:

1) Be sure to dry skin brush. This (along with the cayenne) helps to cleanse your lymphatic system. It feels good, too.

2) Use either the salt water flush or an herbal laxative like Smooth Move Tea to keep your colon flushed out and moving. One of the worst things you can do is go on a cleanse when you colon is not moving and getting you sick because the toxins can't leave your body. Yuck!

3) Use tongue scraping to clean off the residue that will appear on your tongue during your 10 day process.
