The Salt Water Cleanse is a gentle method to flush out your entire
digestive tract. Actually, it is often called the salt water flush
because it flushes right through you.
I like it because if I do it properly, I am complete with the flush in 1 to 1-1/2 hours and then I don't have to be by the bathroom the rest of the day unlike herbal laxatives.
The flush I do, does contain salt,
Celtic Sea Salt
, not iodized. Iodized salt can be harmful to you. (Some even say toxic.) And after working with clients, we have found that the cleanse does not work when iodized salt is used.
Some folks worry about too much salt in the body, however, the weight of the salt in the distilled water is the same as the weight of the sodium in your blood so the kidneys do not recognize it as salt. This allows the salt and water solution to pass through the colon, similar to an internal enema.
Though it can be used anytime the colon needs moving, I have tried it during normal eating and it don't seem to have good results. If you do want to do it during a normal eaten program, you will want to do it first thing in the morning. During a cleanse, especially the master cleanse, it works wonderfully.
I know you might be hesitant because just the thought of drinking salt water sounds unappetizing, but don't worry, its not horribly awful. Do drink it all at once, yes, the whole 32 ounces. I don't mean chug or gulp it down, I mean drink it all down within an hour or so first thing in the morning on an empty stomach.
If its a little much for you
to drink all at once, you can sip it continuously and it will still
work. This is what I do and it is always successful.
Put it all together and be sure the salt dissolves. I use this every two days when I am on
The Master Cleanse
however, you can use it anytime you like.
Again, salt from a natural source like natural unrefined sea salt or Celtic sea Salt is better for cleaning the body than refined and iodized salt. This is a traditional Ayurveda intestinal and total body cleanse.
